(Hakuouki) Souji Okita x Reader: Stupid Cat

  It was a warm summer evening in Kyoto, and you were currently cooking dinner with Chizuru Yukimura. She came to live with you and the Shinsengumi a few months ago since the Doctor Kodo Yukimura was her father and she and the Shinsengumi are trying to find him. She isn’t able to find him herself since she isn’t allowed to leave headquarters without permission.

    “Hey Chizuru-chan, can you start cutting the vegetables while I start seasoning the fish?” You asked the dark brown haired girl. But there was no response. Confused, you turned around and looked over at her and she look like she was spacing out with a little smile on her face. You smirked. You knew of her little crush on the demon vice commander of the Shinsengumi and automatically assumed she was thinking of him. Soooo, you moved behind her and whispered in her ear, “Are you thinking of Hijikata-san again, Chizuru-chan?” And she jumped.

    She turned around and her face was so red, and you started laughing. “N-no, I wasn’t.” She paused. “Uhm, what did you want me to do again?” She was too cute. It was nice to finally have another girl around, so you could finally share and talk about girl things.

    “I want you to start cutting the vegetables while I season the fish.” You told her again.

    She looked behind you and her eyes slightly widened and gasped. “Uhm, (f/n)-chan…”

    You looked at her confused. “What’s wrong?”

    “Uhmm…” She pointed behind you.

    You turned around and you couldn’t believe what you were seeing. A cat is on the counter where the fish is laying, and one of them is in its mouth, it meowed when it noticed you looking at it. There was only enough fish for each person’s meal and you couldn’t afford to let this cat take one. So, you slowly moved towards it and once you were close enough, you quickly jumped towards the cat, yet the cat was faster and jumped down to the ground and ran a good few feet away from you. Your (e/c) eyes gave it a stare down as it stopped to look back at you with its yellow ones with a taunting look as if it was challenging you.

    You smirked deviously. “It’s on.” You thought to yourself.

    Chizuru seen the change of expression on your face and looked kind of scared. “Uhm. (f/n)-chan?”

    “Chizuru.”

    “Hai?”

    “Keep the doors closed so it won’t escape.” You grabbed one of the cutting knives.

    She gasped. “(f/n)-chan! You can’t kill it!”

    “Well I can’t exactly let it take our food either!” You then suddenly lunged at it again and ran after it. That’s when the whole room became a huge mess in a matter of minutes. Pots and cutting utensils were scattered everywhere, Chizuru was screaming, the cat was running around and knocking other things over from the shelves. No matter how much you tried to catch the mischievous feline, it would always have you running after an attempt of catching it.

    Then you heard a door sliding open and three heads peered in the room. “What’s with all the ruckus-” the first person, Souji Okita stopped as he looked at the sight before him: The kitchen a huge mess, Chizuru covering her mouth with her mouth and eyes wide open, you with a cutting knife in your hand and your (f/c) kimono torn here and there and your (h/c) hair a slight mess, and most important of all the cat with the fish in its mouth.

    Saito and Yamazaki were also shocked and surprised. Then realization hit you. “Close the door!” and so you lunged at the cat again and of course it was quicker and was already running down the hall with you running after it. “Stupid cat!”

    Souji and Saito looked at each other and started running after you too. “That’s the same cat from last week!” They both said in unison. Yamazaki looked back a Chizuru with the shocked expression still on his face.

    You were now outside looking up at the roof where the fluffy feline has jumped up to out of your reach completely. “Get down here you stupid cat, so I can kill you!” Wait a minute. That’s usually Souji’s line that you knew all too well. Damn, you were spending way too much time with him lately.

    Unknown to you, you didn’t hear footsteps walking up to you. “Great job, (f/n)-chan. You let it get away.”

    You froze and instantly turned around. “Okita-san. Saito-san.” You felt heat rush to your cheeks because of how close Souji was standing next to you that you almost bumped into him. They were both looking up at the cat.

    “Yep, that’s definitely the same cat from last week.” Saito said in his monotone voice.

    You frowned. “Well I almost had it before you guys showed up and opened the door!”

    “Pfft. Yeah it sure looked like it.” Okita said sarcastically.

    “Humph.” You huffed and blew a few strands of (h/c) hair out of your face, and crossed your arms.

    “Why are you using one of these to kill it?” He took the knife out of your hand. “You should be using this.” He said as he unsheathed his sword.

    “Oh yeah, like there’s one of those just lying around the kitchen.” You told him sarcastically and face palmed. You then saw Yamazaki running towards you. “Yamazaki!” You beamed.

    He froze. “What is it (f/n)?” He noticed the glint in your eyes.

    “Go up there and get that cat.” You told him as you pointed up at the cat. Souji busted out laughing, even Saito smiled.

    “Hah?! Why am I always volunteered to get it?”

    “Always?” You asked, confused.

    “Last week Souji told him to do the same thing.” Saito informed you. Oh, now you understand why Okita was laughing. You even giggled too.

    Saito sighed. “I guess we should all start cleaning up before Hijikata-san sees the mess.” He told you as he and Yamazaki started to walk away.

    You sighed and turned back around to see the cat laying down on the roof and licking its paws. Souji laid a hand on your shoulder and pulled you closer to him.  “Don’t worry. We will catch it someday.” He looked down at you with soft green eyes.

    “Then we will kill it.” You looked back up at him with a sadistic smile and (e/c) eyes that sparkled.

    He was unfazed by this. He was definitely rubbing off on you after spending a lot of time with you. He chuckled, “That’s my girl.” And then he leaned down and kissed your cheek, and started to walk away like he did nothing at all. You tensed and your heart began to race as his lips came in contact with your (s/c) skin, and felt your face turn a few shades of red. He kissed you. Not only that, he even called you his girl. Your whole body tingled with excitement as his words repeated in your mind.

    You lifted your hand to touch the skin where he kissed it. You were lost in thought and suddenly…

    “WHERE DID THIS MESS COME FROM?!” You jumped after hearing Hijikata’s, known as the demon vice commander, voice from inside. There was a moment of silence and then, “SOUJI!”

    “It wasn’t even me this time Hijikata-san! It was all (f/n)-chan’s fault.”

    After hearing this, you turned and ran towards his retreating figure. “That’s mean Souji! I’m gonna kill you!”

    Souji laughed as you chased him all around headquarters and Hijikata running after the both of you yelling for you guys to help clean up the mess.

    And so, the cat was completely forgotten as it left headquarters to feed its beloved kittens the fish that it took from the wolves den.
